ACU Social Work Students Shine
Students from the new MSSW program scored in the top 15% of social work students nationally
on the Area Concentration Achievement Test (ACAT) recently. The ACAT
is a standardized exam designed to measure learning outcomes for the
eight foundation content areas required by the Council on Social Work
Education. Stephanie Daniel took top individual honors, ranking in the
top 5% of all social work students in the United States.
At
the undergraduate level, BSSW graduates from the class of 2008 continue
the tradition of gaining admission to some of the nations best graduate
social work programs. This years graduates will attend such
prestigious schools as Washington University, the University of Texas
and Georgia State University.
Not
all of ACU's brightest and best BSSW students leave Abilene to attend
graduate school. Several top graduates from our
baccalaureate social work program will remain at ACU to join students from universities such as Baylor and the
University of Texas as a part of the School of Social Work's inaugural
Advanced Standing MSSW class, scheduled to begin in July.
"We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students," said Dr. Paul Ammons, Director of the ACU School of Social Work. "Our
faculty and staff work very hard to provide students with a first rate
educational experience in a distinctive Christian environment and these
achievements provide tangible evidence of their success."
