On Thursday, March 27th, our very own Coby Thornton (right) was awarded the 2008 MSSW Student of the Year Award by the NASW-Texas (Abilene Branch).
The Social Work Student of the Year Award honors a student member of NASW-TX who "has made an outstanding contribution to the goals and mission of the profession."
Award recipients must demonstrate leadership; integration of social work knowledge, skills, 
attitudes and values; and commitment to social justice, to the profession of social work and to clients (from NASW-TX)
Dr. Tanya Brice (left) said Coby has "zeal and passion for social justice and the ability to motivate other students to become more socially conscious." Coby currently serves as president of the Social Work Club at Abilene Christian University.
