Why should I go to preview weekend?

Current Students Share Their Thoughts about the Value of Preview Weekend

"The Preview Weekend was helpful for two reasons. First, it connected me with many of the professors who helped give a much clearer picture of what the program was like and also put me in touch with current graduate students who were honest about their experiences. Second, it showed how interested the program and the university was in me as a potential student. Dr. Money's visit demonstrated that not only does the GST want to serve these students, but the university at large does as well." C.M.

"I had planned throughout my undergrad experience to attend a grad. school, but once at that point I wondered how it would be. The Preview weekend was a nice ice-breaker and introduced me to my soon-to-be classmates and faculty at the GST. Some of the friendships I have now had already begun before the first day of class." D.J.

"As a ministry student at ACU, I heard a lot about the GST, but was not sure it was for me. Visiting with professors during preview weekend was especially helpful for me in deciding to attend graduate school. I could tell they cared a lot about students and wanted to better prepare us for ministry." C.L.

"I attended a university in Kentucky and knew I wanted to go to graduate school. After comparing several schools I decided to make the long trip to Texas for Welcome Weekend, 2005. It was worth the trip. Learning about the program and talking with the professors one on one was great. I’m now in my second semester of the M.Div program." J.G.

" I really enjoyed my time at the preview weekend. Getting to meet so many of the faculty members was a great opportunity, especially hearing first hand about their interests and teaching. Though, I was not applying for the GST that year, when it came time for me to apply, I felt like I had a wealth of contacts and resources to assist me in the process. I was also encouraged by meeting current students and future classmates; it was a great chance to meet people I would be working and studying with in the next few years. " E.A.
