Welcome from the Chair of the DBMM
Greetings from the Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry at Abilene Christian and welcome to a website that is full of information for prospective students. I hope you will take a little time to browse the site to learn about our diverse programs, our outstanding faculty, internships for students, scholarship opportunities, and much more.
What is unique about the ministry and missions program at ACU? I receive this question more than any other – and while I might mention several distinctive marks, let me draw attention to just one: spiritual formation in community. Inside and outside the classroom, from your first Bible class until graduation, we are intentional about fostering community among students and faculty. Freshman Bible majors will participate with faculty in a departmental Welcome Week dinner before classes begin, be together in at least three courses in their first semester, experience Freshman Blessing with faculty in January, and may elect to become part of a faculty led mentoring group of 6-8 students in their second semester. We want your relationships with fellow majors and faculty to begin your first semester on campus – and we want these relationships to sustain a lifetime of kingdom ministry.
As you consider where to invest the next four years of your life I hope you will consider the Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry at ACU. And I especially hope that if at all possible, you will make a campus visit to check us out, visit in a class or two, meet with me or one of our other professors, and tour the campus. Nothing will replace your own experience and investigation on campus.
I hope to see you soon!
