The faculty of the MFT Department is convinced that men and women must be prepared to serve in a variety of settings within the Body of Christ. For some, that will mean providing therapeutic services to members and nonmembers while for others it will mean serving the Kingdom in ministry areas such as youth, family, youth/family, involvement, Associate Ministries, and others.

In view of those possibilities, the Department works cooperatively with the Graduate School of Theology in terms of ministry preparation and scholarship offerings.  Thus, persons who wish to be more fully prepared for Christian ministry will likely choose to study two years of MFT and additional ministerial training. There are, then, three options for MFT students.  They are as follows:

1. Two years of study within the MFT department, graduating with the M.MFT degree, prepared to perform a variety of services in a variety of settings while operating from perspectives of a Christian world view and a systemic orientation.
2. Three years of study, two years within the MFT department and one year within the Graduate Bible department, graduating with the M.MFT degree and the M.A.C.M. (Master of Arts in Christian Ministry) degree with an emphasis in MFT.
3. Four years of study, two years within the MFT department and two years within the Graduate School of Theology, earning the M.MFT degree and the M.Div. degree with an emphasis in MFT.

The first option prepares the person to do MFT in a wide range of settings.  Options two and three includes the MFT training, but also include ministerial and theological training, e.g., highly specialized training for ministerial leadership for work in the local church context.
