Dr. Mark Hamilton writes and lectures on the connections between Israelite religion and present-day theology. He is particularly interested in Old Testament discussions of justice, power, community-formation, and spirituality.
He has published many articles and reviews in Harvard Theological Review, Journal of Biblical Literature, Journal of Hebrew Scriptures, Reviews in Religion and Theology, Restoration Quarterly, and Stone-Campbell Journal, as well as articles in encyclopedias. His books include God's Holy Fire: The Nature and Function of Scripture (with Ken Cukrowski and James Thompson; ACU Press, 2002) and The Body Royal: The Social Poetics of Kingship in Ancient Israel (Brill, 2005). He is currently at work on a one-volume commentary on the entire Bible to be published by ACU Press. He sits on boards of the Stone-Campbell Journal, Restoration Quarterly, and the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies. He is also co-executive director of the Association for Case Teaching and editor of its journal, the Journal for Case Teaching.
Mark preaches often in churches and gives workshops on adult education in church, on fellowship, and on spirituality and justice.
