MDiv in Missions

AN 84-HOUR NON-THESIS PROGRAM

Advisor: Tim Sensing

The Master of Divinity is the basic degree in theological education. This degree is a comprehensive program of studies designed to prepare graduates to serve as pulpit ministers, counselors, Christian educators, campus ministers, other ministers of the church, and chaplains. In addition to the general benefits of the M.Div. program, the missions track is designed for those who plan to evangelize domestically or abroad. It is also designed to equip students with advanced academic skills in preparation for doctoral work (D.Min., D.Miss, Ph.D.).

Comprehensive Exam

During the last semester of course work, each student must take 6 hours of oral exams relating their academic work to ministry. Missiology will form one component of these examinations. Generally the exams are scheduled in April and November of each year.

English Bible Requirement

All students are required to take an exam over the English Bible prior to entering the second calendar year of the M. Div. program. This exam will involve knowing a basic outline of each book of the Bible as well as basic themes, key interpretive issues, and selected texts of each book. Students who do not pass this exam must complete it successfully during the semester after the exam is first administered. Students who do not pass this second exam will not be able to enroll in classes until the exam is successfully completed.
