John teaches a general education Old Testament Bible class. He specializes in Old Testament theology and opening his home to numerous college students. John is an elder at Highland Church of Christ in Abilene.
John earned his bachelor's degree in 1955 and his master's degree in 1956 from Abilene Christian University. He received his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1966. John preached in three different congregations for 13 years before beginning his teaching career at Abilene Christian University.
John and his wife, Evelyn, have four grown children: David, Debbie, Tim, Paul and 13 grandchildren.
