The work in Zagreb began about in the late seventies with some ACU students who enrolled as language students. Mladen Jovanovic was their professor and became a Christian as well as his wife after a few years of study. In 1985 the church acquired a meeting place in the center of the city and was able to register with the government as a religious body. Mladen began full-time evangelism in 1980 after completing studies at the Institute in Austin. There are now twelve congregations of the Churches of Christ in Croatia. The original congregation that meets at Kuslanova 21 in Zagreb is the largest with approximately 100 in attendance on Sunday morning.
