Frankie Addams, a precocious 12 year old tomboy, shares her dreams with her
worldly wise maid Berenice. Desperate to join the sophisticated world of her
brother and his fiancée, she
schemes to leave home and become a 'member' of their wedding. Playwright and
novelist Carson McCullers is recognized as one of the great writers of the
American South alongside Tennessee Williams and John Steinbeck. Apart from this
play, she is best known for The Heart is a
Lonely Hunter and The Ballad of the Sad Cafe.
