Meet Hannah Browning
Name: Hannah Browning
Describe a memorable event or image in an ACU play in which you have performed, directed, designed or crewed or one you've seen here.
There's so many! I'd probably have to go with the opening night of my first homecoming musical, Titanic, in the fall of 2010. When the entire company was singing together and hitting that final note of the opening number with our hands reaching for the crowd, the adrenaline was absolutely infectious. We'd been working so hard for so many weeks, and now all that hard work seemed to finally make sense! I remember running off stage out of breath, crying and laughing and jumping up and down. It was the best moment ever.
How has faith impacted your journey as an artist?
It's definitely made me see works differently - not only pieces we do here, but pieces we get to experience all over. I can't see things as only an actress; I see them as a Christian actress. It doesn't mean shying away from tricky, controversial work that could potentially be hard or scary, but it does mean thinking through things, asking questions, trying to see the whole bigger picture before jumping in.
What advice do you have for a prospective theatre major?
Remember that you have purpose. If there is something that makes you happier than anything else, do it! Even if it's hard. Remember that God gave you a gift for a reason, and that getting to share it with the world is such a blessing!
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
I see myself going where God takes me, hopefully somewhere somewhat related to the theatre performance world :)
