Apply for Admission

The primary criterion for admission is the applicant's potential for academic success in the program. To assess each candidate's relative potential, the following items are requested and considered:

  1. A completed Application for Admission to the ACU Graduate School.

  2. Application fee of $40

  3. An official transcript of all college work (in English or translated into English) indicating an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.   Admissions are made on the assumptions that applicants will have the bachelor's degree by the time of matriculation, and if not, the Graduate School admission is void.

  4. Three letters of recommendation, with at least two of these from psychology professionals.

  5. A written statement from the applicant describing his or her career goals, professional interest, and reasons for wishing to enter the psychology program at ACU.

Application Deadlines

For Spring 2006 it is strongly suggested that applicants submit application material by October 31, 2005.

For Summer 2006 it is strongly suggested that applicants submit application material by February 15, 2005.

For Fall 2006 it is strongly suggested that applicants submit application material by March 31, 2006.

For full consideration for admission, applicants are encouraged to submit all materials as soon as possible. Admission decisions are made as soon as completed applications are received; qualified applicants are admitted on a continuing basis until enrollment limits are reached.

Conditional Admission

If a student fails to meet one or more of the requirements outlined above for unconditional admission to a graduate program, the appropriate admission committee may choose to grant conditional admission with the understanding that in order to stay in the program, the student must satisfy certain conditions, normally within the first semester at ACU. A letter from the Graduate School to the student outlines how to move from conditional to unconditional admission where the applicant must meet all the standards of unconditional admission.

Official Acceptance

Official acceptance letters come from the ACU Graduate School. While academic departments and others play a major role in the evaluation of all applicants, any offer of admission is not binding without an official letter from the Graduate School.
