Advantages of the PCT Program
Faculty Mentor
An underlying strength of the Psychology Professional Career Track program is the addition of faculty mentors for each incoming class of PCT students. The mentor becomes an integral part of the PCT cohort, teaching the seminars, advising students about scheduling, and generally being available for questions and concerns throughout the individual's stay at ACU.
Research and Service
The students of the PCT have engaged in numerous research and service opportunities both as a part of the program and as independent pursuits.
Recent research conducted by the PCT includes presentations at regional conventions on topics such as Facebook, PostSecret, and the Psychology of insult.
Various service opportunities taken by the PCT members include employment in daycare for medically fragile children, student support services, tutoring, mentoring children through local organizations, and community work with elderly people.
Study Abroad
During the PCT experience, students will get the opportunity to participate in a psychology Study Abroad experience. The most recent trips have taken students to Germany, with classes focusing on the psychology involved in the Cold War and in WWII. Visits to Nazi concentration camps also provide discussion concerning the psychology of evil.
