ACU students have many opportunities to gain valuable physics experience while also earning a little extra money.  Here is a general overview of the kinds of positions available.  If you are interested in working for the physics department in any of these capacities, see Lois Marie for more information and an application.

 


 

Employment Opportunities

Summer Researcher

Students are very involved during the summers in ACU's nuclear physics research, doing everything from construction to data analysis.  They earn $1500 per month, plus the cost of lodging and travel to national laboratory sites.

Semester Researcher

Students can continue to work on data analysis during the school year.  ACU provides an office of computers dedicated solely to research.  Salaries vary.

Lab Instructor

Students can assist in teaching any of the physics labs, such as General Physics, Engineering Physics, Modern, Astronomy, Optics, or Electronics.  Salaries vary.

Teaching Assistant

Although not common, some classes have teaching assistants whose responsibilities include taking attendance, posting grades, and handling paperwork.  Salaries vary.

Grader

Qualified students can grade homework for certain classes under the professor's supervision.  Salaries vary.
