Students Speak

Calling myself a physicist requires and demands that I admit I cannot know everything. When I study the earth on a fundamental level and realize how much there is going on that we can only guess about, I see God's power. Perhaps this is not proof of His existence; but when you have faith and believe, the study of physics can only strengthen your conviction.

I chose to major in physics not in spite of the largely secular scientific community but rather because of it.  Physics is a field in which I believe dedicated Christian witnesses can make a tremendous difference.  As I leave ACU, I am so thankful for the friends and mentors I met here who have taught me how to give an answer to everyone who asks the reason for the hope that I have.

For a long time I was certain that the majority of highly educated people (especially those in the natural sciences) were not Christians.  I saw a conflict between my passion for physics and my passion for Christ.  Even entering the physics department at ACU, I still had reservations about how science might undermine my faith.  But I am growing to realize that my search for truth is framed by Jesus' promise of being the very embodiment of truth.  My professors have guided me in this exciting exploration.  As the universe displays itself to me more and more through my studies, I see creation not as evidence against faith, but as the product of an omnipotent and loving creator.
