los alamos
Last summer, three students worked with the ACU nuclear physics research group at Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico. The project's goal is to study atomic fission more precisely in an effort to construct new nuclear reactors that are safer and produce less waste.
nat mcconnell
Nat can't remember a time when he didn't like figuring out in a logical fashion how the world works.
sara schmidt

Sarah's job is essential to the rapidly developing wind energy industry. She designs meteorological measurements at potential wind farm locations, analyzes the quality of the wind at the site, and designs wind farm layouts.

darby hewitt

With a physics degree from ACU, Darby Hewitt found himself qualified for acceptance into the top engineering programs in the country.

mike ballard

A typical work day for Mike Ballard might include a 3 a.m. conference call with European and Australian partners in the aerospace industry or it could include tinkering with the ejection seat design on an F-22 fighter jet.

Welcome to Physics at ACU!

If you're looking for a quality program that offers research experience and prepares you for graduate school, you're in the right place.

"The best part about our department is the professors, and the friendships we develop with them during our summer research projects. There's just something to be said for being able to learn from your professors, work and research next to them, and then also get to go to church with them on Sunday."    - Austin Basye
