Dr. Pauline Bjorem

Pauline Kung Bjorem is Piano Division Chair and Assistant Professor of Piano at Abilene Christian University. She has a DMA in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oregon, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Hardin-Simmons University and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Abilene Christian University. Under full scholarship and as the first Malaysian to be accepted, she studied at the exclusive Yehudi Menuhin School of Music in Surrey, England, majoring in piano performance. Her teachers included Dean Kramer, Peter Norris, Seta Tanyel, the late Louis Kentner and Vlado Perlemuter, Ron Rathbun and Mark Puckett.

Dr. Bjorem has performed solo recitals throughout England (including performances on the BBC and at Wigmore Hall, London), Wales, Malaysia and the United States (California, Oregon, Washington and Texas); concertos with the Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra, Penang Symphony Orchestra (Malaysia) and Abilene Collegiate Orchestra. She has performed numerous chamber music works with strings, woodwinds, voice, chorus and with two pianos.

Dr. Bjorem has held teaching positions at Dallas Baptist University (Dallas, Texas), the University of Oregon, Northwest Christian College and Eugene Bible College (Eugene, Oregon). She has presented piano masterclasses and has done extensive adjudication in Malaysia, Oregon, California and Texas.
