Before returning to Abilene in 2006, Lynette (Thompson '71) Walters lived in Portland, OR, and worked with Mt. Hood Community College as a Workforce Development Specialist in collaboration with the Department of Human Services. In November 2008, Lynette joined the Annual Giving Team at ACU and worked for Development. She joined the Department of Music in the fall of 2010 in Operations, Public Relations, and Bands.
Lynette is married to James "Butch" Walters and is involved as a Sunday School teacher at Hillcrest Church of Christ and as a member of the Hillcrest Singers and the Abilene Classical Chorus. Two of their four children are ACU grads. They are very proud of their five grandchildren, Emma and Audrey Hull, Douglas and Claire Davis and Abigail Walters. They are enjoying the opportunity to be a part of the lives of their Texas families and travel back to Portland, OR as often as possible to love on family there. Lynette enjoys sewing, cross stitch, gardening and playing the piano.
