Jeannette Lipford
Jeannette Lipford lives in Abilene and has a long and colorful history with Abilene Christian University. Her parents, Guy and Bessie Scruggs, and her grandparents, Sam and Edna Allen, were also active participants in the Abilene Christian community. Jeannette continues to teach both voice and musical theater classes at ACU. She also provides all the vocal coaching for the ACU Homecoming musicals and has coached the majority of singing groups at the university throughout her 39-year career there. Six years ago, the university established the “Jeannette Lipford Sing Song Award,” to be given annually to a student who goes “above and beyond” in their efforts to raise the standards of Sing Song, an annual musical production involving over 2,000 students.

Jeannette holds a bachelor’s degree in music from ACU, with a double major in piano and voice. She also holds a master’s degree in performing arts from ACU, and has done graduate work in Nashville and at Baylor University, as well as studies at SMU and the Julliard School of Music in New York City. She also has served as a vocal coach and consultant throughout Texas and in Louisiana.

Perhaps most importantly, Jeannette has a passion for knowing Jesus and for teaching His principles as she mentors dozens of students and young mothers. She has taught many Bible classes, both in word and song. Jeannette and her husband, Harold, have three daughters, five grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
