Ott is the Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon at Abilene Christian University. Born in Texarkana and raised in North Dakota and Iowa, she received her BA in Music Performance and German from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Following her graduation from Luther College, Ms. Ott enrolled at Wichita State University, where she received her MM and performed as the second bassoonist of the Wichita Symphony. She received a Performance Diploma from Indiana University in 2009, and is currently finishing her DMA at the University of North Texas. Her principal teachers are Kathleen Reynolds, William Ludwig, and Nicolasa Kuster.
In addition to her duties as bassoon instructor at ACU, Ms. Ott is a Teaching Fellow with the bassoon studio at UNT a member of the Center for Chamber Music Woodwind Quintet. She maintains a large private studio in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and is a chamber music coach at UNT.
While at UNT, Ms. Ott has performed as the winner of the UNT Concerto Competition as well as principal of the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. She can be heard on several GIA Wind Works recordings, including Encryptions, Revelations, and Genesis. She has performed with the Symphony Orchestras of Abilene, Texarkana, Shreveport, Las Colinas, Sherman, Southern Arkansas, Baton Rouge, and Wichita Falls in addition to the Chicago Civic Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Ms. Ott is a two-time winner of the Wolf Ilse-Bing Competition.
