Jason Missal

Prior to his position at CU, Mr. Missal served as Assistant Director of Bands in the public schools of Jenks, Oklahoma. He taught at the high school, middle school and beginning levels, and his ensembles received consistent superior ratings in performance and sight-reading, and performed at state, regional and national venues such as the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, the National Adjudicators Association Festival, and the convention of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. Mr. Missal also maintained an active private horn studio.
An active professional performer and chamber musician, Mr. Missal has performed with the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Tulsa Opera Orchestra, the Signature Symphony (Tulsa), the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, and the American Wind Symphony in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mr. Missal is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association. When not conducting, performing, or teaching music, Mr. Missal’s interests include cooking, travel, hiking, movies, collegiate and professional sports, and reading. He lives in Abilene with his wonderful wife Maggie, also a professional musician.
