David Jones

Mr. David Jones is the Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Big Purple Marching Band, for which he arranges music and writes drill. He also conducts the concert band, teaches instrumental music education courses, and supervises student teachers.
Mr. Jones is presently a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Alabama Bands where he spent the last two years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the university bands. His duties included working with the highly acclaimed “Million Dollar Marching Band” as trombone section instructor and visual tech. He was also the Graduate Conducting Assistant for the Alabama Symphonic Band as well. Mr. Jones is projected to graduate with a DMA in Wind Conducting in August 2010
David Jones is a graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Instrumental Music Education and Business Management. He holds a Master of Music Education degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
From 1997 through 2004 Mr. Jones was the Assistant Director of Bands at Franklin High School in Franklin, TN. In 2004 he assumed the position of Director of Bands at Franklin High. As Director and Assistant Director, Mr. Jones was responsible for instructing, arranging and designing music and drill for the 220 member Franklin Marching Rebel Band and teaching the Franklin Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble.
Mr. Jones is an active performer on trombone and bass trombone. He has performed in the Nashville Wind Ensemble, a professional wind band, as trombonist and bass trombonist from 1993 through 2007.
