Dr. Charles Coltman

Charles Coltman is Assistant Professor of clarinet and saxophone at Hardin-Simmons University, and serves as adjunct professor of saxophone at ACU. Dr. Coltman completed the D.M.A. degree at The University of North Texas 2002, where he was a student of James Gillespie. He has a M.M. in Woodwinds and a B.M. in Clarinet Performance also from The University of North Texas. He did post-graduate study at the New England Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Lee Gibson, John Scott, Peter Hadcock, Andy Crisanti, James Riggs, and Eric Nestler.

Dr. Coltman has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Dallas Wind Symphony, Dallas Summer Musicals, Shreveport Symphony, Texas Wind Symphony, and the Casa Manana Orchestra. He has toured with national tours of Evita and La Cage aux folles. He is a former member of the Texas Saxophone Quartet. He is currently a member of the Abilene Philharmonic and continues to freelance in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He has taught at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Dallas Baptist University, and colleges in the Dallas Community College System, in addition to The University of North Texas. He is a member of TMEA, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Mu Alpha.
