The Department of Music offers the following music degrees:
The Bachelor of Arts in Music, requiring 128 hours, is a general degree in the liberal arts tradition. A larger number of electives in the BA degree allows the student to pursue other interests as well as music.
The most popular degree is the Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification. This program is recommended for those musicians who wish to teach in the public schools. It certifies the recipient for all levels, K-12. This degree requires 131 hours for Instrumental majors and 129 hours for Vocal majors.
The Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance or Piano Performance is a professional degree for musicians planning graduate study or work in an area of music outside of public education. This degree requires 131 hours for Vocal majors and 133 hours for Piano majors.
The Music Department also offers a Music Minor for those students wishing to study music but major in another field. (click here for requirements)
