Majors
The Department of Mathematics at ACU offers the following degrees for students pursuing careers in mathematics, mathematics teaching, and actuarial science:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics - a strong liberal arts degree with a minor in the student's field of choice, ideal for anyone wanting a degree in mathematics supplemented by courses in another discipline of interest
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics - a traditional degree that is excellent preparation for many careers and provides a solid background for graduate study in mathematics, statistics, operations research and many other areas
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics with concentration in Actuarial Science - designed for students interested in the financial implications of risk, this degree includes courses in the Math Department and in the College of Business Administration to prepare an individual for the first two actuarial exams and other professional requirements for actuaries
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics for High School Teacher Certification - a degree designed to equip high school mathematics teachers, with specific training in teaching techniques and preparation to pass the Texas teacher certification examination in mathematics at the high school level
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics for Middle School Teacher Certification - a degree designed to equip middle school mathematics teachers, with specific training in teaching techniques and preparation to pass the Texas teacher certification examination in mathematics at the middle school level
