Wendell Edwards, class of 1992 and KHOU-TV Houston reporter, did a followup of the fatal Texas City apartment chemical explosion. Edwards built the story slowly until he quoted FBI Special Agent Kasey B.H. Salway, “It’s a peroxide based explosive that can be made in somebody’s tub. It can be made in somebody’s garage. It’s a very volatile substance thats extremely sensitive to heat, shock and friction.” It turned out to be an explicit, clear explanation of the technology of the one-month later major terrorism story in England. – Charlie Marler
