Major Code: IMC

Requirements:

  1. JMC Core, 19 hours: JMC 100, 102, 210, 342, 310 or 451, 488, 495
  2. Integrated Marketing Communication Core, 9 hours: JMC 301, 391, 492
  3. Concentration to be selected from one of the following:
    1. Advertising, 12 hours, JMC 390, 392, 6 hours of JMC selection approved by adviser
    2. Public Relations, 12 hours, JMC 390 or 223, 392, 341 or 450, 3 hours of JMC selection approved by adviser
  4. 6 hours: MKTG 340 and MKTG 344 or MGMT 330 (may count toward marketing support field)
  5. Support field, 15 hours: including 6 advanced hours from art or marketing (preferred), communication, English, ethnic and women's studies, political science, psychology or sociology
  6. Electives, 13 hours: including deficiency requirements in science and foreign language

How to get involved as an Ad/PR major:

  • Join or become an officer in the Integrated Marketing Communication Club (IMCO), which includes a membership in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) or the American Advertising Federation (AAF).
  • Help with event planning, including the annual Gutenberg Dinner and Senior Sanctuary.
  • Participate in meetings of the Abilene Ad Club.
  • Attend PR and advertising seminars, confernces and career-day events.
  • Work in the university's marketing, public relations or sports information offices.
  • Write for the Prickly Pear yearbook.
  • Sell advertisements or write for the Optimist, ACU's student newspaper.
  • Volunteer for KACU's pledge drive.
