Students in the Department of History have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom.
Phi Alpha Theta
Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of History through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among Historians. The organization seeks to bring students, teachers and writers of History together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist Historical research and publication by its members. Founded in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta currently includes eight hundred fifty-nine chapters in fifty states.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has developed the Federal Government's Employment Information System which provides worldwide job vacancy information, employment information fact sheets, job application and forms. By using USAJOBS you have access to not only Federal job information listings, but also some state and local government as well as private sector listings. USAJOBS is updated daily. All Civil Service job vacancies at the State Department are listed on this website.
