Prerequisites

Medical Schools generally have the following courses as prerequisites for application into their programs. However, the schools do vary as far as math and/or liberal arts requirements. It is highly recommended that schools be contacted for the latest information about course requirements so that these may be met by the required time.

Two years (4 semesters) of Chemistry:

• CHEM 133/131 (General Chemistry I and Lab)
• CHEM 134/132 (General Chemistry II and Lab)
• CHEM 223/221 (Organic Chemistry I and Lab)
• CHEM 324/322 (Organic Chemistry II and

  NOTE: In addition, Biochemistry is recommended, although not required. UT San Antonio requires 3 hrs of Biochemistry.

Two years (4 semesters) of Biology:

• BIOL 112/114 (General Biology I and Lab)
• BIOL 113/115 (General Biology II and Lab)
• Two of the following courses are recommended:

    BIOL 221/223 (Animal Biology and Lab)
    BIOL 312 (Cell Biology)
    BIOL 492 (Animal Physiology)
    BIOL 475 (Molecular Genetics)
    BIOL 491/493 (Human Anatomy)

One year (2 semesters) of Physics

• PHYS 110/111 (General Physics I and Lab)
• PHYS 112/113 (General Physics II and Lab)

One semester of Calculus

• MATH 131 (Calculus for Applications) OR
• MATH 185/183 (Calculus I and Lab)

English

• ENGL 111 (Composition Rhetoric)
• ENGL 112 (Composition Literature)
