The Pruett Gerontology Center

The Mission of the Pruett Gerontology Center is to provide service to Abilene Christian University and the community through programs of instruction, service/learning and partnership with faith-based and community-based programs that prepare students and organizations for Christian service and leadership with families and communities focusing on global aging.

The gerontology program has been a part of ACU since 1984, and the Center for the Study of Aging opened in 1986. It was renamed Pruett Gerontology Center in 1994 to honor benefactors Zack and Geneva Pruett. With the help of a generous endowment, the program has grown to include a greater number of resources and academic programs. In Fall 2006, the center became a part of the Department of Sociology and Family Studies.
