The Department of Foreign Languages empowers students to fulfill the "throughout the world" element of the University's mission statement, preparing them to cope with the languages, cultures and peoples of other countries.
The person who knows a foreign language has an added dimension to his or her life. Language expands and heightens the pleasure of travel, of good literature and of the arts.
The Department of Foreign Languages offers courses in:
New for fall 2009! Through the Dialektos Program, the Department of Foreign Languages now offers courses in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin and Russian, as well as special sections of Spanish.
Curriculum
The Department of Foreign Languages offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and International Studies. The department works with the Department of Education to offer two-field teacher certification in Spanish. A minor in Spanish may be added to other majors.
