Foreign Languages

The mission of ACU is to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. The Department of Foreign Languages empowers students to fulfill the "throughout the world" element of this mission, preparing them to connect with the languages, cultures and peoples of other countries.

The person who knows a foreign language opens a whole new dimension to his or her life.  Language expands and heightens the pleasure of travel, of good literature and of the arts. It increases thinking skills, mental flexibility, and understanding of one's native language, while building intercultural connectedness.

Adrienne Carpenter ('08) | Spanish Education

Adrienne Carpenter long felt a desire to lead and educate others. Her experience on mission trips to Mexico with her church youth group gave her a heart for connecting with Hispanic culture and achieving Spanish fluency. These passions converged in Spanish Education at ACU.
