German Teaching Postion at Coppell High School
in Coppell, Texas
The class sizes are very small (7-18), and the starting
salary for the district is $34,000.  This is really an awesome opportunity for
someone who wants to build up a program.

Scholarships for Students Studying German

ATTENTION:  High School German Language Instructors

        The Texas German Society offers an annual essay contest to high
school junior or senior students interested in the German language and
culture.
        Two scholarships of $300.00 each will be presented to the two top
essay winners.  This presentation will be made at the Texas German Society
Annual Convention in Victoria, Texas, on April 8, 2000.
        Requirements:
        Applicant must reside in a county where TGS has an organized
chapter.  These counties are:  Austin, Bastrop, Bell, Colorado, Coryell,
Dallas, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Lavaca, Lee, McLennan,
Tarrant, Victoria, Waller, Washington, Williamson, and Wharton.
        Applicant must be presently enrolled in a German language course or
have taken a German language course in high school.
        Applicant plans to continue his/her interest in the German language
and culture.
        Applicant must submit an essay of at least 300 words written in the
English language on the topic:

        MY INTEREST IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

        On a separate sheet of paper, include your full name, complete
address, social security number, name of the German instructor and the name
and address of the school.
        The essay will be judged on originality, content, creativity, and
mechanical accuracy.
        The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university
when the winner enrolls in the college or university ofhis/her choice even
if the winner is receiving another scholarship.  Scholarship will be used
for tuition fees.  If the winner does not enter a college or university by
the fourth year from date of graduation from high school, the scholarship
will be forfeited.
        The winning essays will be printed in the Society's newsletter.
Previous essay winners are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate.
