"Inferno II: The Plague," follows two English majors through their college career.  Mortimer Conrad, who killed Mr. Wordsworth, the English teacher of Mortimer's twin sister, Louisa, while attending Dark Ness High School, is running from his personal demons, plaguing him at every turn in the physical manifestation of Ishmael.  Louisa, struggling with acceptance, whether or not to kill Claudio, and successfully navigating her college studies, begins a downward spiral as her issues spill over into a food consumption disorder in the vein of literatures most famous consumptionist: Count Dracula.  Will Mortimer stop running from the law and the new Campus Police Chief, Columbo?  Will Louisa's Marley-esque encounter with Wordsworth's ghost alter her life, or will she be consumed by her own plaguing consumptions?

"Inferno II: The Plague" will be performed in front of a live studio audience on Friday, October 24, at 4:30 PM in the Mabee Library Auditorium.  As an added bonus, audience members will aid the script by producing sounds necessary for the radiodrama.  We are planning (note: planning) to pipe sound outside the library so passers-by can listen to our broadcast.  But, if you're like Al Haley's son, and if your response is similar to his, "No way, dad.  I want to be inside and make sounds!" then join us in the auditorium.

But the fun doesn't stop there.  During the normal act breaks of the radiodrama, the live studio audience will be privy to additional entertainment.  Besides readings of poetry and prose, English 459 is preparing a literary version of "The Bachelor."  Some of the possible "lucky" girls are Scarlet O'Hara and Hester Pryne...if only Henry VIII can choose one.  Unfortunately, the losers will be beheaded...ouch.

Make plans now to attend Literama 2003.
