Majors

ACU physics degrees include rigorous math and science courses that lay the groundwork for exemplary graduate study. The physics faculty are active and internationally-respected researchers, as well as Christ-centered educators who enjoy teaching and mentoring students. They involve ACU physics undergraduates in extensive research experience in solid state physics on-campus and in nuclear physics at national laboratories.

Degrees Offered:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics - the broadest education in the field of physics, this degree prepares students for graduate work in physics, engineering, science education, computational physics and similar fields

  • Physics track- this standard physics track offers a broad, intensive foundation in theoretical physics, and includes the student's choice of several advanced electives in a variety of specialized fields
  • Applied Physics track - with a special emphasis on electronics and computer programming, this track prepares students for graduate work and careers in a number of practical fields, including electrical engineering, computer engineering and computer science
  • Computational Physics track - this track prepares students for careers using computer-based approaches to solve complex problems in physics, astronomy, mathematics, computer science, engineering and similar fields
  • Engineering Physics track - combining basic engineering study with advanced math and physics courses, this degree prepares students for graduate schools of engineering

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering Science - a cooperative degree with the University of Texas at Arlington, this program enables students to complete both a B.S. in Engineering Science at ACU and a B.S. in Electrical or Industrial Engineering at UTA within five years

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics/Mathematics with Teacher Certification - this degree combines math and physics work with teacher preparation courses to prepare students to teach physics, physical science and math at the high school (grades 8-12) level
