Tim Head

Assistant professor of physics

Education:
2007, Ph.D. in Physics from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
2002, M.S. in Physics from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
2000, B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Texas Tech University

Research Interests:
Solid state physics.  In particular, the interactions of acoustic phonons (sound quanta) with the electronic states of superconductors.  Also, superconducting microcalorimeters and other uses of superconductors as energy detectors.

What made you become a Christian?
I was in an accident that showed me how fleeting life can be.

Why would you recommend ACU's physics program?
The physics program at ACU has good interaction between students and professors unlike some larger institutions.  ACU also has a long history of involving undergraduate students in research.  This is a great help in preparing for a career in physics.

What are some Bible passages that are special to you?
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17

What are some of your favorite quotes?
"Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it." - Fyodor Dostoyevsky

ACU Undergrads at National Labs
ACU's engineering and physics students help conduct nuclear physics research at national labs each summer. See their experiences at Fermilab and Brookhaven.
