A Word From The Director

The forensic program at Abilene Christian University has a long history of excellence. Our roots can be traced back to the early part of last century when the first forensic Intramural Society competitively debated the issues of the day. Although many decades separate the beginning of our program to now, our team focus remains the same: competing at national public speaking tournaments and sharpening the skills God has blessed us each of us with.

Competing in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Parliamentary Debate, and various Individual Events such as Extemporaneous and Persuasive speaking, the ACU forensic program regularly brings home team and individual awards from tournaments nationwide. Our success is the result of hard work, practice, and a well-balanced social life.

We are always looking for new talent to join our program—regardless of prior experience in public speaking competition. The diversity of experience within our team creates a learning environment that’s not found in many other places.

Take a look around the website for more information about who we are, our schedule of competitions, and our scholarship program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to working with you!

Sally Gary, M.A., J.D.
