"ACU immediately felt comfortable to me. I was looking for a college that was small enough to feel like a close-knit community, a family, yet wide enough to offer diverse opportunities and give me room to grow. At ACU I knew my professors and advisers would be interested not only in expanding my academic horizons but in nurturing my spiritual life as well."
"My interest in science began in high school, thanks to the enthusiasm and encouragement of a high school teacher. I love biology because it is the study of life; I am fascinated by the processes through which plants, animals and humans keep themselves alive and interact with their environments. Studying the natural world has deepened my understanding of and appreciation for the God who so masterfully created it.
"Even so, I came to ACU undecided as to what career path to choose. I was impressed by the programs and opportunities offered in the biology department, especially those oriented toward students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. I declared myself a biology major and have not regretted it any day since."
"The biology department has fully equipped and prepared me to pursue a career in medicine. Also, because of opportunities provided to work with ACU biology department faculty members in research I was able to land a competitive summer research position in a neurobiology lab at Pepperdine University. I developed a project in which I tracked changes in the levels of protein phosphatase 2A after traumatic brain injury in the rat. The abstract was published in the Journal of Neurotrauma, and I presented the research on a poster at the National Neurotrauma Society Symposium in July of 2006."
"I love the ways in which biology professors integrate their faith with the science they teach in the classroom. That’s the difference between ACU and other universities: at ACU your Biology professors will pray with you before they start class, they will marvel with you at the intricacies of God’s design of the human body, and they will push you to deepen your understanding of what it means to follow Christ as you wrestle with bioethical questions."
