"To say that ACU is different might sound a bit cliché, but it is, nonetheless, true! Some students avoid small Christian universities because they feel they can better serve the Lord in the worldly environment of a large public university; however, at this point in my life, I feel it is crucial to go to a university that might help me grow in faith and prepare me further for a life in ministry through healthcare. It is in this environment that I am stretched academically and spiritually, all the while being surrounded by Godly mentors and spiritual supporters. What more could you ask for?"
"It was nature itself that made me fall in love with biology. I am fascinated with not only the complexity of living organisms, but also the complexity in which these organisms interact with each other. Biology is full of mysteries and I enjoy learning about them."
6. Tell us what you like about your biology classes, experiences, the department in general, your professors, or something else: Biology is difficult. Biology is a subject that appears to be full of contradictions- especially to the Christian faith. My professors were not afraid to challenge certain views that I previously held to be true, and I have come to love them for it. Throughout my biology education, my professors have taught me how to speak and live intelligently and relevantly as a Christian scientist. Each professor has had his/her specific way of showing their students what it looks like to love science, but most of all love God. Dr. Hernandez has her quiet strength, Dr. Brannan has his philosophical thoughts, Dr. Lee has his intense love of nature, Dr. Bian has a love of research and discovery, and Dr. Nichols has his creative way of getting others to think outside the box. All of these professors love their students, and have invested physically and spiritually into our futures. Through classes such as Biomedical ethics and biology seminar we are taught to deal prayerfully and intently with important ethical issues that shape our society today and in the future. I am privileged to have had these experiences as a part of my higher education.
