Dr. Patricia Hernandez
Patricia Hernandez has a doctorate in molecular biology with neurobiology emphasis. She was trained as a researcher, but has gained clinical insight from her volunteer efforts the past 7 years. She works with children with spina bifida and cerebral palsy as well as the elderly with dementia and joint replacements. She is accompanied by her Labrador retriever, Dusti, and has many patient stories to share in the classroom.
To her, teaching is analogous to seeds germinating and growing. Students come to ACU with great potential and with minds and hearts that are continuing to be rooted. Her classes help them develop deeper roots academically and spiritually. When her students graduate, she hopes they will continue to flower and bear fruit that serves others.
Dr. Hernandez also conducts a neuroscience presentation for elementary children. She has received grants to teach elementary teachers biology as well as the integration of math in biology.
