Thank you for your interest in the Department of Biology at Abilene Christian University. In this department, as well as throughout ACU, we are attempting to do something unusual and, frankly, rather difficult. Our goal is to offer students a quality education at least equal to that available at any high caliber university and to do so within a Christian context. In the Department of Biology that means that we must have a full array of biology courses and research opportunities dealing with both classical and modern biology and spanning the spectrum from field to molecular biology. We believe that our faculty successfully touches all the main areas of biology and that our facilities and off campus opportunities allow investigation into all the substantive areas of biology. Furthermore, the Biology faculty members are committed to be not only individuals of knowledge and good communication of that knowledge, but also to ministry. We make no apology that we believe it is possible to be an accurate, creative, productive scientist while at the same time be a follower of Christ. It is our intention that students be challenged academically so that each student can develop the professional gifts he or she has. It is also our intention that students understand that they have a responsibility as God's children to use those gifts in the service of others and to God's glory.
