Requirements for Admission

ACU is committed to providing equal educational opportunities for non-traditional students without regard to race, sex, creed, handicap, or national origin.  As a private educational institution, however, ACU reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant whose academic preparation, character, or personal conduct is determined to be inconsistent with the purposes and objectives of the university.

The purpose of the admission process is to identify applicants who are considered non-traditional and who are likely to succeed academically in the BAS Program and at the same time contribute positively to the campus community.  To admit students who cannot or will not persist until they have accomplished their academic goals is an expensive mistake for both the university and the students.

To meet the definition of non-traditional and to assess a student's relative potential for academic success, the following are required:

  • Minimum age of 25

  • Minimum of two years work experience

  • Interview with a BAS advisor

  • Bachelor of Applied Studies Application:  Online Version or Printable Version (PDF format)

  • $25 application fee (non-refundable)

  • Satisfactory official transcripts of all previous college work (high school transcript required if fewer that 30 earned college hours)

  • A statement of purpose (two pages)

  • Two recommendations (PDF format) from someone other than family (one character, one academic or job related)

  • Without an associate degree or with fewer than 64 transferrable college semester hours, appropriate entrance exam (SAT, ACT, COMPASS, WAIS)
