Mandy Scudder

Mandy Scudder is the administrative assistant to the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She has been with the department since January 2007. Although Mandy is new to the A&E family, she has a long history with Abilene Christian University. After arriving in Abilene in 1994 as an international student from South Africa, Mandy graduated from the College of Biblical Studies with a BS in Christian Ministry in 1998.

Mandy has lived in Abilene since 1994 and has been married to James Scudder, also a graduate of ACU ’97, for 11 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Jaime Faye (7) and Amberly Elizabeth (5).

In addition to their involvement at University Church of Christ, James and Mandy are passionate about educating people about Down syndrome. Amberly (5) was born richly blessed with an extra chromosome. As a family they have faced many obstacles, but have overcome their obstacles through the Lord’s faithfulness. One of Mandy’s favorite scripture verses that she holds in her heart each day is Philippians 4:4-9, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Mandy’s encouragement to students is to be the best they can be and allow Jesus to work great things in and through their lives.
