2008 DTA Induction Ceremony
On Thursday, February 28, seven ACU students were inducted into the Delta Tau Alpha Honor Society, a national honor society for agricultural and environmental science students. Timber Barkley, Kristopher Clark, Kendra Gregory, Mike Hamilton, Roberta Isenhower, Cason McInturff, and Alex Wann were all inducted into the ACU chapter of DTA. Dr. Kent Gallaher, faculty DTA sponsor, spoke before the ceremony, and chapter president Dylan Wann, an environmental science major from Torrington, WY, presented the membership certificates to each of the inductees. This year's induction represents the largest incoming group of DTA members since the rejuvenation in recent years of ACU's chapter of DTA.
DTA "promotes and recognizes scholarship and leadership accomplishments of agricultural students while emphasizing character development, enhancing undergraduate preparation for professional positions, and joining with other agricultural student's organizations in the promotion of agriculture." (From http://www.fhsu.edu/agriculture/natdta/, DTA National Homepage.) Through their induction into DTA, these seven students demonstrate a personal commitment to the high standards of the society, and they also highlight the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Science's commitment to high goals in academics and professional standards for its students.
