Broom Colloquium-Faculty Reading Group 2007
Complimentary copies of Philip Jenkins’ book, The Next Christendom: The Coming of Global Christianity are available in the Adams Center
for faculty members interested in participating in a Spring reading
group.
In the fall semester of 2005, the Adams
Center went on the road for our Adams
Center on the Road needs assessment. We went
to each of your departments to hear what you had to say about engaging
colleagues and teaching and learning. At that time, many of you mentioned the
need for a wider range of activities, offered at a variety of times (as opposed
to the single, traditional lunch time event). From your feedback, we created
the Adams Center curriculum—a curriculum centered
on increasing faculty engagement.
All of our new events flow directly from the new curriculum,
including our faculty reading groups. We hope you will enjoy the many
opportunities for collaboration in your faculty commons, here in the Adams Center.
One new series of events that we are excited to host is the Faculty Reading
Groups associated with the Broom Colloquium for Mission and World Christianity. The Adams Center,
in collaboration with the Halbert Institute for Missions, the Graduate School
of Theology, and the Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry has
orchestrated these unique opportunities for meaningful interaction with your
colleagues. In addition, we are pleased to announce that author, professor, and
historian, Philip Jenkins, will be joining us on March 1-2, 2007.
We are asking all Broom Colloquium reading-group members to
participate in two of three discussion sessions during the spring
semester. Session details follow:
