MiniGrants

Faculty Enrichment MiniGrants are designed to encourage faculty members to develop workshops and presentations that promote teaching excellence, using mini-grant funds to assist with expenses of these projects.

MiniGrant Goals

Workshops and presentations supported by minigrants contribute to these goals:

  • Increase the amount of faculty enrichment on campus
  • Promote sharing of teaching expertise among faculty
  • Improve teaching on campus
  • Improve morale by offering the modest supplement
  • Intensify ACU's focus on teaching excellence

Possible Uses

Some possible uses of the grants are:

  • Conducting seminars with faculty to discuss teaching/learning issues and demonstrate new teaching strategies
  • Purchasing materials that focus on improving teaching such as videos or teleconferences on teaching methods
  • Supporting regular meetings of an interdisciplinary faculty group that is devoted to teaching improvement
  • Supporting faculty enrichment projects involving curriculum development associated with university-wide academic initiatives like integrating faith and learning, service learning, multicultural perspectives, etc.

Submission

Submit completed application to the chair of the Faculty Development Committee in the Adams Center. For grants under $100, allow 1 week for approval. For grants ranging from $100-$500, allow 3 weeks, because the grant request must be approved by the Faculty Development Committee. Mini-grant awards for a single department during an academic year are limited to $500.

Requirement

The Faculty Development Committee requires that it be named as sponsor on materials, announcements, and promotions associated with the grant. The Faculty Development Committee will promote and advertise workshops and seminars as needed.
