Subject: Academic Enrichment and Technology Funding
This memo announces the 2006 call for proposals for Academic Enrichment and Technology (AET) Fee allocations. AET funds create/upgrade computer labs, smart classrooms, fund software or other technology used in the teaching/learning process. Each request should be made using the appropriate form (see attached) and submitted to the LINK Team c/o George Saltsman by October 2, 2006 via one of the following methods:
Office: Brown Library Room 256 in the Adams Center,
Mail: ACU Box 29201,
Fax: 2834,
email: saltsman@acu.edu
Existing computer labs are assumed to automatically update every three years, however each department must submit a REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF COMPUTER LAB UPGRADE form to receive funding. A copy of the current lab upgrade schedule is attached.
Existing smart classrooms are updated automatically on a three/six year rotation (new computer every three years / new projector every six) and do not need an upgrade form. The smart classroom update is a new program and we are working our way into the cycle, therefore, some rooms may lag slightly behind until we can get all the rooms in to the cycle. The schedule of classroom updates is available upon request from George Saltsman.
LINK encourages applications for new smart classrooms. Even if your request was not approved in previous years, you are encouraged to resubmit your application using the REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY CLASSROOM.
LINK also encourages requests beyond labs and smart classrooms. Large projects or projects that emphasize collaboration between divisions or colleges or potentially have university-wide implications are specifically encouraged. Any project outside a lab or smart classroom should be made using the REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF GENERAL TECHNOLOGY.
For each request received, the Department of Educational Technology will work with you to prepare a budget estimate for your project. A copy of the estimated budget and the request form will be sent to the appropriate college dean for priority ranking within the college. The form, with college ranking, will then be submitted to the LINK team for funding consideration. The LINK team evaluates requests during scheduled meetings with tentative approvals scheduled for November 28, 2006. If the project is approved for funding, funds will become available June 1, 2007 and the project should be completed no later than August 15, 2007. The total AET fee amount to be allocated is approximately $615,000. Last year, requests exceeded $910,000.
George Saltsman (x2996, saltsman@acu.edu) will be available for consulting and budget preparations. Contact him at anytime for assistance in any process of the AET fee allocation process.
