Faculty Mobile Device Instructions

ACU's Mobile Learning Initiative is recognized throughout the world and embodies ACU's 21st century vision of building distinctive and innovative programs.

In order to assist faculty with questions and make the process of ordering a device as stress-free as possible, here is a guide to help you in your decisions and answer some frequently asked questions.

New Mobile Learning Faculty

By choosing to participate in ACU's Mobile Learning Initiative, you will have the opportunity to advance and strengthen teaching and learning in your classroom. As a participant you are eligible to receive a mobile device, attend mobile learning information/training sessions, and have mobile learning support available for your classroom device usage.

Becoming Mobile Learning Faculty at ACU simply requires that you receive a mobile device through the Adams Center and commit to using it to advance teaching and learning in your classroom. Faculty who teach 6 or more credits in an academic year are eligible for a $199 reimbursement for a mobile device. ACU provides the $199 reimbursement once every two years. Here are your options:

iPhone - You may purchase your iPhone from Apple or AT&T at either an online or physical store. After purchasing your device, please fill out and return the iPhone Reimbursement Form along with a copy of your receipt to receive your $199 reimbursement. AT&T contract obligations still apply. iPad (credit) - You may elect to receive a $199 credit towards the purchase of an iPad. After purchasing your device, please fill out and return an iPad Reimbursement Form along with a copy of your receipt to receive your $199 reimbursement.

iPod touch - You may purchase your device from Apple either online or a physical store (including ACU's Campus Store). After purchasing your device, please fill out and return the iPod touch Reimbursement Form along with a copy of your receipt to receive your $199 reimbursement.

What Makes Me Upgrade Eligible

ACU provides all faculty who teach at least 6 credit hours per year with a mobile device once every two years. ACU reimburses faculty up to $199 for a new device. You may contact Lyndell Lee with any questions regarding this process.

If you are eligible to upgrade your device, you may choose ONE of the following upgrade options:

iPhone - You may purchase your device from Apple or AT&T at either an online or physical store. After purchasing your device, please fill out and return the iPhone Reimbursement Form along with a copy of your receipt to receive your $199 reimbursement. AT&T contract obligations still apply. ACU reimburses $199 towards either an iPhone, iPad, or an iPod touch. This page is designed to give you the basic features of each device to assist you in choosing the option that is right for you.

iPhone 4 features: 

  • Phone service with 3G data required (personal AT&T monthly contract fees required)
  • Internet available on either 3G network or through an available wireless connection
  • Main rear-facing camera - 5 megapixels, built-in LED flash, still camera or video

iPod Touch features:

  • Wifi or 3G version available (3G version requires personal AT&T data contract)

What to do with your old device after upgrading?

Your old device is your personal property. You may:

  • Give the device to a friend or family member
  • Sell the device
  • Donate the device to the ACU Faculty Loaner Pool to assist faculty with lost/stolen/broken devices (contact Lyndell Lee by email or by phone at 325-674-2475)
  • Donate the device to a Missionary (contact Lyndell Lee by email or by phone at 325-674-2475)
