The Powell Fitness Center was built in 1992 on Oliver Jackson Boulevard adjacent to Gray Stadium. It is named for its donor, Lee Powell of Paducah, Ky. The late Mr. Powell was president of Old Hickory Clay Co., president of the ACU Alumni Association, chairman of the Advisory Board, a member of the National Development Council, 1963 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, a recipient of an honorary doctor of laws degree from the university, and a member of the ACU Sports Hall of Fame.
