The C.L. Kay Wing of the Brown Library was built in 1995 in honor of Kay, who served as vice chancellor from 1982 until his death in 1991. He was responsible for securing grants totaling $8.5 million from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation, who partially funded the construction of this wing with a $1.5 million challenge grant. The challenge grant inspired at least $10.5 million in capital funds to be donated to ACU.
The center is named in honor of Dr. Walter H. Adams, who served as academic dean of the university from 1932-69. The center provides faculty with a state-of-the-art Distance Learning Classroom, an electronic audio/visual production center, a television studio and a computer training center, as well as reference materials and workshops.
