Chambers Hall is named for Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Chambers, benefactors of the university from Afton, whose gifts in the 1940s also helped spur the strengthening of the home economics program and the building of the Foster Science Building and McKinzie Hall.
This hall was formerly a women's dormitory in 1929, and later was a university library and cafeteria until the latter moved to the McGlothlin Campus Center in 1968 and the Brown Library was completed in 1971.
